A blaze in Dimapur results in the loss of properties valued at Rs. 20 lakhs.

In Dimapur, near the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church in Duncan Basti, a significant incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon around 1 pm, where a fire ravaged a residential building, resulting in the destruction of properties amounting to an estimated Rs. 20 lakhs. The situation was promptly addressed by the fire department, as reported by Commandant S.I T Akamba Tikhir from the Western Fire Station Dimapur.

Upon receiving information at approximately 1:55 pm, the fire department swiftly responded by deploying two fire tenders—one from the central station and another from the western station—to manage and contain the escalating fire. The quick intervention helped bring the situation under control, preventing further damage and containing the fire’s spread.

The cause of this devastating incident was identified as a short circuit, according to the officials’ assessment. Fortunately, amidst the chaos and destruction, there were no reported casualties. The authorities’ prompt action and efficient response played a crucial role in preventing any loss of life, despite the substantial damage caused to the properties in the affected residential building.

This event underscores the significance of both swift emergency response and the dangers associated with electrical malfunctions. The community’s safety measures and the firefighters’ efforts were vital in mitigating the impact of the fire, though the loss of property is indeed unfortunate.
