Niuland Road Construction Raises Concerns

Niuland Road

The viral video has brought attention to the perceived low quality of the blacktopping done on the stretch of road between Dimapur’s 4th mile and Niuland. Social media platforms are abuzz with discussions as viewers express apprehensions about the durability and standards of the roadwork. The footage has ignited a broader conversation regarding the importance of maintaining and improving infrastructure in the area, with citizens and authorities alike contemplating the need for enhanced oversight and quality control in future construction projects.

Unverified message that clamed verifying the work

Recent developments reveal a trend where various associations, bodies, and individuals are critiquing the Niuland road construction shortly after the final layer has been applied in the Vihokhu area. This phenomenon, capturing attention across social media groups, prompts a closer look.

An investigative report indicates that the optimal curing time for the high-quality Vg 40 bitumen, crucial for achieving compaction and stability, ranges from 24 to 48 hours after vehicular movements and rolling. Any concerns regarding quality will result in a maintenance period, during which the department will conduct inspections before issuing a completion report.

However, the premature criticism, lacking an understanding of technical specifications and site conditions, is deemed inappropriate and unjustified. The matter has been formally brought to the department’s attention, urging the presence of supervisors to provide clarifications to those creating videos without proper authority.

It is emphasized that peeling before the bitumen is fully dry and stabilized is ill-advised. In the event of quality issues, the road from Jail Junction to Referral will serve as the final demonstration layout until the completion of the stabilization process, building on the success achieved in the BC final carried out last week.”
