In a shocking turn of events, two Nagaland Police personnel assigned to Traffic Duty. For the upcoming Hornbill Festival 2023 in Kohima have been suspended following a viral video that captured them in an inebriated state, engaging in a quarrel with the public. The incident, which occurred in the heart of Kohima Town, has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the behavior of government servants.
The personnel in question, namely ABSI. Khruvezo Keyho (POL20939) and UBC. Zachukho Therie (POL07087), were detailed for Traffic Duty as per office order No.DEF/PK/ESTT-18/2023-24/1201 dated November 18, 2023. However, a video surfaced on social media on November 22, 2023, showing them under the influence of alcohol while in full uniform. In response to the grave misconduct, the undersigned. Invoking the power conferred by Sub Rule (1) of Rule 6 of Nagaland Service Discipline and Appeal Rules 1967, has issued an immediate suspension for both individuals. The suspension order dictates that they shall remain at RHQ Phek. And are not permitted to leave the headquarters without prior permission during this period.
While under suspension, ABSI. Khruvezo Keyho and UBC. They will be entitled to draw a subsistence allowance equal to half-pay leave. Additionally, they will receive dearness allowances as admissible from time to time based on the basic pay received on the date of suspension. Subject to fulfillment of other conditions specified for such allowances. The incident has raised questions about the conduct of government officials during public events.
