Zeliangrong United Front Questions Rongmei Naga Council Manipur’s Association with NSCN-IM Consultative Meeting

The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) raises concerns through media channels about the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur’s involvement in the NSCN-IM’s “People’s Consultative Meeting on Indo-Naga Political Peace Process.” Scheduled for December 6, 2023, in Tamenglong HQs, the ZUF questions the rationale behind RNCM’s apparent alignment with NSCN-IM.

Highlighting historical Naga society norms of avoiding singular faction support, the ZUF questions RNCM’s one-sided association with NSCN-IM, suggesting potential ulterior motives. The ZUF asserts that the Indo-Naga Political Peace Process has concluded without a satisfactory solution, accusing NSCN-IM of prolonging the process to maintain their majority support status.

The ZUF predicts that any attempt by NSCN-IM to oppose India regarding the Indo-Naga talk’s failure could lead to self-destruction and increased distrust among the Nagas. The ZUF views RNCM’s proposed consultative meeting with NSCN-IM as an attempt to deceive and diminish the stature of the Rongmei and Zeliangrong people, aiming to disrupt the ongoing Zeliangrong political talk process with the Government of India.

In a cautionary tone, the ZUF urges RNCM to refrain from association with NSCN-IM and cancel the proposed consultative meeting for the benefit of the Rongmei community and Zeliangrong at large. The ZUF also calls on NSCN-IM to avoid undue interference in Zeliangrong political affairs and interests, appealing to the Rongmei people to abstain from the meeting for the community’s greater well-being.
