Classroom Management

Deadline Looms: Non-compliance May Lead to Severe Consequences

Nagaland schools have been directed to swiftly implement and update the Online Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) and Student Database Management System (SDMS) by November 30. Failure to comply with these directives may result in serious consequences, including the invocation of the non-cooperation clause, de-recognition, or presumption of non-existence for schools.

Government Mandate: Comprehensive Directive from Ministry of Education

In a recent notification, Kevileno Angami, Commissioner and Secretary for DoSE and SCERT, revealed that the Ministry of Education (MoE), Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, has mandated the implementation of UDISE+ and SDMS in all states, including Nagaland. This initiative covers a wide spectrum of schools, including private schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and those under CBSE, ICSE, as well as Central and state governments.

Data Update Process: Key Details for Schools to Follow

Under the current UDISE+ and SDMS 2023-24, schools are required to update their ‘Profile’ and ‘Facility Module, Teachers Module’ using their respective login credentials. The Student Profile in SDMS 2023-24 necessitates the use of the Progression Module to Promote/Transfer existing students. For transferred students, schools can utilize the Import Module or Dropbox Module to fetch details from their previous institutions. Only fresh details of students at the entry level of the school are required to be uploaded, according to the notification.

Caution on Accuracy: Adherence to Right to Education Act

The Ministry of Education, in adherence to the Right to Education (RTE) Act, emphasizes accountability at all levels of data collection and updates. The notification warns school authorities against submitting inaccurate information related to their respective institutions.

Crucial Data for Education Status: Implications for the State

The outcome of this data collection and collation will depict the education status in the state, facilitating the derivation of crucial indicators such as Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), Net Enrolment Ratio (NER), Dropout Rates, Transition Rates, and other key educational metrics for the state.

Timely Completion: Significance for Annual Works Plan and Budget

The comprehensive process of UDISE+ 2023-24 and SDMS 2023-24 is slated for completion by November 30. The notification emphasizes the critical role of the gathered data in the formulation of the Annual Works Plan and Budget (AWP&B) for the fiscal year 2024-25, cautioning that failure to comply may result in severe consequences, including the de-recognition of the school and other penalties.
