Sürümi Award Trust Honors Academic Excellence at 13th SAT Award Ceremony

The 13th SAT award ceremony unfolded at Sürümi Baptist Church (Aizüto) on Sunday, December 31, 2023, recognising the outstanding achievements of meritorious students.

Inaugurated in 2011 by Shri. Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS (Rtd), the then Chief Secretary of Nagaland, alongside the Sürümi Village Council, the Sürümi Award Trust (SAT) was established with a mission to acknowledge educational excellence in Cl-10 Board examinations annually. Over the years, SAT introduced prestigious awards such as SAT-PGLAAMC AWARD and SAT-SJET AWARD, each carrying a certificate and a cash prize of ₹20,000.

Er. Huwuto Awomi, DGM, IOC Ltd & Trustee, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the significance of hard work, perseverance, and the adverse impact of excessive mobile phone usage on the current generation’s lifestyle.

Chaired by Mr. Katovi Shikhu, SSU President & Trustee, the ceremony featured a welcome speech by Akükau Vukhuhe Awomi, who introduced eight candidates excelling in NPSC, NSSB, and other competitive exams from the village.

This year’s recipients include:

  • SAT Akighiche Saxu (Excellence Award):
  1. Kezokali Sümi from Mount View School, Sürühuto (Rural).
  2. Bonikali Sümi from Mount View School (Sürühuto area).
  3. Inanguka P Yeptho from Pilgrim HSS Dimapur (Urban).
  • SAT-PGLAAMC Award for MIL (Sümi) subject topper among Sürühuto area students:
  • Vibeli Sümi from Mount View School.
  • SAT-SJET AWARD for overall NBSE Topper among Sürümi students:
  • Inanguka P Yeptho from Pilgrim HSS Dimapur (Topper – 18).

Er. Huwuto Awomi and Pastor Hito Chishi handed over the awards, with blessings from Pastor Hito Chishi. SAT Chairman Mr. Hokuto Jakhalu expressed gratitude for the active participation of the community, concluding the event with a vibrant folk song and a benediction by Mr. Kughalu Zhimo, Y/L.
