No Parking

In a significant decision made during the meeting of the Dimapur District Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on April 11, 2023, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has officially designated specific locations under its jurisdiction for paid roadside parking. The new regulations, slated to take effect from December 1, 2023, aim to streamline parking facilities and manage congestion in key areas of Dimapur.

The areas identified for the implementation of paid roadside parking include NL Road, MP Road, GS Road, Nagarjan Police Point to New Flyover, Deluxe Point to Khermahal Police Point, City Tower to Hotel Tragopan, Dhobinalla to City Tower, and Below Railway Fly Over. These locations have been strategically chosen to address the growing demand for parking spaces in bustling sections of the city. According to a notification issued by DMC administrator W. Manpai Phom, the parking fee structure has been established with consideration for different types of vehicles. Non-commercial 2-wheelers will incur a parking fee of Rs. 10, while 3-wheelers will be charged at Rs. 20. For 4-wheelers, a fee of Rs. 20 will be applicable.

The move comes as part of the council’s broader efforts to enhance urban mobility, alleviate traffic congestion, and generate revenue for municipal development. DMC administrators believe that the introduction of paid parking will not only regulate the use of public spaces but also contribute to the overall improvement of the city’s infrastructure.
