Khunti, Jharkhand, November 15, 2023:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the occasion of ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ by releasing the 15th installment of the PM KISAN scheme at Birsa College, Khunti, Jharkhand, on November 15, 2023.

Direct Benefit to Farmers:
With the distribution of the 15th installment, over eight crore farmers have benefited from a cumulative disbursement of more than Rs 18,000 crore directly by PM Modi. The PM KISAN scheme’s total disbursement has now exceeded Rs 2.80 lakh crore, making it one of the largest Direct Benefit Transfer schemes globally, supporting farmers in meeting their agricultural needs.

Steadfast Progress Since Inception:
Launched on February 24, 2019, the central sector PM KISAN scheme continues to provide financial support to land-holding farmers, excluding those in higher income brackets. An annual sum of Rs 6,000 is distributed in three equal installments, spaced every four months, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to farmers’ families. The scheme has extended benefits totaling over Rs 2.61 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers nationwide.

Streamlined Disbursement Process:
For the 15th installment, completion of eKYC and Aadhaar linkage to active bank accounts was made mandatory, ensuring transparent and direct fund transfer to rightful recipients without middleman interference. To facilitate this, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare introduced a mobile application featuring facial authentication-based e-KYC.

Technological Support for Farmers:
Additionally, the Ministry has launched the PM KISAN AI Chatbot (Kisan e-Mitra), integrated with Bhashini, to provide multilingual support for scheme-related grievances. This technological solution aims to promptly and efficiently resolve queries, equipping farmers with immediate and accurate information.

The latest installment signifies a continued commitment to the welfare of farmers, reinforcing the impact of the PM KISAN scheme in transforming the agricultural landscape across the nation.
